Why did you become a Hospital Medicine Physician?

I think the major attraction to Hospital Medicine is the immediate gratification or satisfaction from observing results after implementing a treatment plan. Also, the diagnosis, is either confirmed or ruled out in a short period of time.

What advice would you give someone starting out in your position as an Internal Medicine/Hospitalist?

I think the focus has to always center on quality patient care, no matter what else is happening in the hospital. My advice would be to give the same care to these patients as if they are a family member.

Why did you choose to work locums?

Locums allows you to schedule your work around birthdays and special events in your family life and that’s important to be present on those occasions. Locums allows you to help a hospital achieve its goal of quality care for the community it serves.

What do you like about Cross Country Locums?

Cross Country Locums has always given an honest representation of hospital work loads, pay and hours. I have benefited from a staff that have exceeded professionalism and purpose when dealing with hospitals and physicians.

What do you like about working at the facilities CCL has placed you with?

The facilities where I have had the privileges to work are among the best in the state. Complex patients are met with experience and expertise with backup specialty care and social support services for patients that are commendable. The hospitals where I have completed locums are patient-focused facilities healing all types of ailments.

Ultimately, the profession is unique, since it allows you immediate access to another human being at what could be the most vulnerable moment in their life. Whether slightly sick or gravely ill, you are a lifeline to orchestrate the symphony of healing. You can direct a surgeon to excise a gangrenous gallbladder or call for a solo artist like a plastic surgeon to consider a flap. When a hospital has a complete symphony of physicians, who all come together to resolve illness, it’s a crisp and clear sound that is music to my ears.
