Karen Mote, President
Karen, the President of Cross Country Locums (formerly Medical Doctor Associates), joined the organization in 1998. In her more than 20 years with the organization, she has honed strategic expertise in locum tenens and advanced practice staffing, with roles in physician and allied recruitment and sales. Formerly, as Vice President, Karen led the sales and recruitment strategy for the Advanced Practice division. Prior to joining Cross Country Locums, Karen worked in the healthcare industry as a Medical Laboratory Technician, where her foundation and passion for healthcare began. Karen attended North Georgia College and earned her A.A.S. degree from North Georgia Technical College.


April Hawthorne, Senior Vice President of Fulfillment
As Senior Vice President of Fulfillment, Advanced Practice for Cross Country Locums, April provides leadership in sales, team building and staffing services. With over 25 years’ experience with Cross Country Locums (formerly Medical Doctor Associates), April has spent most of her career in emergency medicine and has served as Team Lead for Cross Country Locum’s government division, developing a successful and cohesive team of recruiters with multi-specialty capabilities. April earned her B.A. in Human Resources Development from Harding University.


Michael Skovira, MBA, MPAS, PA-C – Chief Medical Officer and VP of Integrated Solutions
As Chief Medical Officer and VP of Integrated Solutions, Michael is responsible for directing, coordinating and administering all aspects of clinical quality improvement initiatives for Cross Country Locums. With more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, having served in multiple clinical, educational and administrative roles throughout his career. In addition to his clinical background in emergency medicine, Michael is fueled by his passion for developing and implementing value-added initiatives and fostering strategic partnerships within the industry to improve the overall delivery of healthcare. Michael received his B.S. from Central Connecticut State University, earned his PA-C, summa cum laude, from Pace University – Lenox Hill Hospital Physician Assistant Program, and his M.B.A in Strategic Business Management from Hofstra University.
